The Rittals Aisle Containment System is increasingly being deployed in Data Centres where the average power demand of each cabinet exceeds 5 kW. Effectively using roof panels and slideable doors at each end of the row which 'contains' the air within the aisle. This prevents the cold and the hot air mixing which increases the capacity of the overall system to approx 10 kw per cabinet. The other benefit is that because the cold air is now being delivered directly to the server, the cold aisle air temperature can be raised, this means the CRAC or inline cooling (LCP inline) system is a lot more energy efficient which results in long-term energy cost savings.

The CRAC system draws warm waste air from the top of your Data Centre, cools it either with water or refrigerant in a closed heat exchanger, and blows the cooled, filtered supply air into the raised floor with overpressure.

LCP Plus solves the problem of high power dissipation of up to 30 kW per rack. It is fitted as an environmentally controlled chamber on the side of a server rack.
Major advantages for the user are the even distribution of the chilled air in front of the 19" level, complete accessibility and cooling, of either one or two server racks with one LCP. As a standard, a cooling performance of up to 30 kW is provided. The cold air is blown in horizontally - directly in front of the rows of servers - and ensures smooth thermal conditions. The LCP possesses its own regulation system, which can be integrated into a superordinate monitoring network via Computer Multi Control Top Concept (CMC-TC). The user benefits from comprehensive safety features.

In conjunction with the new LCP In Line, cold aisle containment is an enhanced option for the efficient dissipation of high heat loads from server enclosures. With up to 30 kW per module the LCP Inline integrates directly into the aisle containment and delivers cold air directly into the aisle. It can be either used as a replacement to the CRAC system or as an assistance for greater cooling capacity. With integration into the network, LCP In Line provides real time update of the status of the cooling system. With SNMP protocol included LCP In Line links directly with your NMS system to provide an additional holistic overview.

Especially for cooling IT applications, such as LCP or air/water heat exchangers. Safety-relevant features such as redundant speed-controlled pumps, compressors or buffer stores are the distinguishing features of these atmospherically sealed systems.

To support existing air-conditioning systems, Rittal is now offering liquid based cooling systems for retrofitting on server racks. The new LCP (Liquid Cooling Package) unit is based on an air/water heat exchanger technology and solves the problem of high heat losses of up to 10 kW per rack. Without having to modify existing series of racks, the innovation can be attached as an independent cooling unit to the rear doors of practically any rack - and while the rack is in operation. The hot air, dissipated towards the rear by the servers, is forced through the air/water heat exchanger by fan units and then expelled. However, connection to a circulatory cooling-water supply is necessary before the LCP unit can be installed.

The heart of the new LCP T3+ system is a heat exchanger unit comprising two fully integrated cooling circuits and implementing an intelligent controller concept. This further development does away with all disturbance-prone air baffle systems and ensures cooling of the whole air flow. This sophisticated design guarantees maximum availability, even if the one circuit is put out of action, because each of the two cooling circuits is able to uphold the full nominal cooling capacity of the system. The power supply, too, is configured with two active paths and is maintained at all times thanks to the standard integration of a transfer switch. In case of a power infeed failure, the supply is switched automaticall to the second infeed within fractions of a second, with no interruption to operation.

Efficient cooling solutions rely on an excellent infrastructure. The Rittal piping system provides the link between the equipment and the refrigeration system. An optimum design and targeted media supply ensure efficient operation of all cooling components. This also includes safety-relevant options such as redundant pumps, emergency cooling or buffer stores.
System benefits:

Rittal PMC 200 ensures optimum availability for critical applications by combining modularity (flexible, unlimited scalability and redundancy) with decentralised parallel architecture or DPA (redundant protection without "single point of failure"). The UPS modules are transformerless, genuine online, double-conversion UPSs with static bypass and classification code VFI-SS-111. This modular concept keeps the purchasing and operating costs of redundant solutions low. As your performance requirements grow, the UPS grows with you, thanks to its flexible scalability - even in the most confined spaces, and with the system operational. Your benefits: Less capital tie-up inexpensive expansion, and minimal space requirements.

Whether a basic product design or application specific solution, the Rittal Power system embodies quality at all stages of the manufacturing process. It's tough yet attractive powder coated aluminium body is complimented by industrial strength polycarbonate end caps, fixings which provide inherent isolation from the rack body, an essential requirement for many communication applications. The sockets themselves feature self-adjusting cable terminations that allow for rapid assembly and eliminate the risk of dropped cables due to vibration or thermal cycling. Simplicity of mounting is provided with a choice of four standard mounting modes that includes three-way clip feet for end, concealed and side mounting. Alternatively unique integral pull-out front brackets for horizontal 19" or flush zero- U mounting, Since every PDU comes complete with both clip feet and pull-out brackets, the installer can have confidence that the strip can be adapted to suit any on-site rack configuration.

The new PSM strip by Rittal, is designed to solve the key issues with supplying power into the next generation of Data Centres. The key difference is that the power strip is based around a dual three phase feed, "A" and "B" supplied in a single rail. Each phase is rated at 16 Amps and therefore the whole strip is capable of supplying 96 Amps in total. The other essential difference is that the power rail is supplied empty. If you need 6 x C13 sockets you can just plug them in, if you need 4 x C19 or even UK, just plug them in as well. This really gives the Data Centre manager the ability to change the sockets whenever they need to.
